Youth Birding Program

UPCOMING TRIPS

July 24-Saturday
Young Birders Field Trip - Mount Lemmon
For this month's young birders trip we will ascend the Catalina highway in search of birds of the higher elevations and relief from the heat of Tucson! We'll concentrate on the upper parts of the mountains, looking for birds of the conifer forests. Red-faced Warbler, Pygmy Nuthatch, Steller's Jay, and Pine Siskin are just a few of the birds we may encounter. Bring lunch, water, sunscreen, and a hat. We'll be done by 1pm. Contact leaders for meeting time & place or any other info.

youth_Earth Day for Kids Agua Caliente[Steve Russell]More about the Youth Birding Program Field Trips
All kids 8-18 years of age with an interest in birds are invited to join in the trip.

The club's adult leaders, Robert Payne and Scott Olmstead, are young men that share a passion for birding and a desire to help open up the world of birding to kids.

Most of the trips will be a half-day of birding at local Tucson parks or birding hotspots and will usually end with a lunch meeting. We hope the young birders themselves will play an important role in determining the focus and direction of the club. It is our hope that, beyond gaining and sharing birding skills, club members will gain an interest in natural history and take on citizen science projects that “give back” to the birding community and to wildlife.
