Home Who We Are

About Tucson Audubon - Quick Facts

sagauro_ideTucson Audubon connects people to their natural environment. Focusing on birds and other wildlife, we inspire and motivate people to conserve natural resources in southern Arizona for use and enjoyment by all.

Founded in 1949, Tucson Audubon is southern Arizona's leading non-profit engaging people in the conservation of birds and their habitats. We involve people through recreational birding, extend their horizons through education programs, and engage them in conservation actions from planting trees and counting birds, to working with local, state, and national policy makers.

Tucson Audubon is a fully independent 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

Living with Nature Lecture Series
Tucson Audubon has monthly programs fall through spring.

Education Program

Arizona Important Bird Areas Program
Active, field-oriented, community-engaged, science-based and conservation-focused program to benefit Arizona’s bird populations of greatest conservation concern.

Habitat Restoration Program
Tucson Audubon's restoration focus is on riparian areas. Ninety-five percent of the riparian habitat in southeast Arizona has been lost in the last 100 years. A large number of bird species that are on the Audubon Watchlist (of vulnerable bird species) are ones that depend on riparian areas.

Youth Birding Program
Objectives for Tucson Audubon's Youth Birding Program are to develop, in Tucson 's youth, a sense of wonder about the natural world, a close and meaningful connection with nature through an understanding of birds as a component of a much larger system, and an understanding of the workings and the values of the natural world.
