Salt River (Phoenix Metro Area) with Kathe Anderson
Friday, April 4th – Salt River (Phoenix Metro Area)
Trip difficulty: Easy. Some uneven surfaces, but fairly easy walking, up to 2 miles total. Restrooms available, but no water.
We’ll meet at 6am at the Starbucks at 2832 N Power Road in Mesa (NW corner of Power and McDowell) to form carpools to the Salt River. Then we’ll explore several spots along the river, hoping to find lingering waterfowl, common desert species, and also colorful migrants using the river as their summer home or stopover on the way north. It’s early in the migration season – pretty much anything could show up – or not. But it’s hard to have a bad day at the Salt River! Wrap up by 11ish. National Parks Pass or Tonto National Forest day pass required. Plan for an early picnic lunch. Limit 7 participants.
Leader: Kathe Anderson (kathe.coot@cox.net)
