Tucson Audubon COVID-19 News

Public Programs

Field Trips
Trips are now running again with limited group sizes. Because of this we are asking people to sign up for one trip per month and participants must wear face coverings and observe safe distancing. Thanks for your understanding!

The Southeast Arizona Birding Festival is scheduled for August 11–15, 2021, and we are currently planning a hybrid (in-person and virtual) type of festival. Stay tuned for more festival updates!

Property: We are pleased to announce that the Paton Center for Hummingbirds is now open!

The coronavirus pandemic had forced us to close our doors to the public for most of 2020. With vaccination rates on the rise, we feel it is safe to cautiously reopen, to allow visitors to once again experience the beauty of birds in this one-of-a-kind setting. To ensure that we keep the experience as safe as possible for our visitors, volunteers, and staff, we are requiring that everyone:

  • Wear appropriate face coverings at all times when on the property
  • Observe posted guidelines for safe distancing
  • Abide by the limited seating guidelines posted in the pavilion

It is our sincere hope that we will not have to close the Paton Center again. With your help, we believe we can continue to offer the world-famous Paton Center and Richard Grand Memorial Meadow for all to use safely and comfortably.

If you have questions, please email paton@tucsonaudubon.org.

Property: Mason Center Trails Are Open

We know that going outside to enjoy the birds and habitats we all love is important during these uncertain times. To facilitate the enjoyment of species like Gambel’s Quail, Ash-throated Flycatchers, and desert-dwelling Purple Martins, the trails at Tucson Audubon’s Mason Center are now open. Please note that the buildings and the restrooms will be closed to public use until further notice, and onsite staff will be observing safety protocols  including distancing and wearing of face coverings.

Nature Shop at the Historic Y

The Nature Shop is now OPEN. Store hours are Wed–Fri 10–4 & Sat 10–2. Face coverings are required to enter and the number of customers will be limited to a maximum of 4. All shared surfaces in the Nature Shop are regularly disinfected and the register counter area will be disinfected after each customer has completed a purchase. Thank you for your cooperation and supporting the Tucson Audubon Society!

Our Online Nature Shop is always OPEN!

The Nature Shop located at Agua Caliente Park is now PERMANENTLY CLOSED.
