Birders travel from across Arizona, the U.S., and even the globe to marvel at southeast Arizona’s bird life, including the extraordinary diversity of birds that migrate across the U.S./Mexico border twice a year. But what about this border? Join us as we hear from staff members of local organizations working to protect life along the border, including Dora Rodriguez, the Board Chair for Humane Borders, and Myles Traphagen, the Borderlands Program Coordinator for Wildlands Network. Each organization will focus on a different aspect of how U.S. border policy and the border wall affect life in the region. Collectively, they’ll teach us about impacts on birds, other animals, habitats, ecosystems, and human beings. Look for special “Birding the Border” field trips Friday – Sunday.
