Invasive grasses are a hot topic in the Southwest because infestations threaten millions of acres of native habitat and increase the threat of fires that destroys native plants, including the iconic Saguaro Cactus, and may threaten homes if left unchecked. Tucson Audubon’s Invasive Plant Strike team combats invasive grasses for the U.S. Park Service, Forest Service and Pima County and they are expanding services into Homeowner Associations (HOAs).  Karen Howe will share her experiences over the last year of engaging her neighbors in an invasive grass campaign with the help of Audubon. She will focus on how she has gotten more than 60% of her neighbors to address grass issues and how you can tackle this challenge in your neighborhood or HOA.  She’ll share practical stories, photos and materials created with the help of Tucson Audubon.
