Elf Owl by Doris Evans

Difficulty: 1 (Very short walks from vehicle at night, good hearing required)

Night birding during the monsoon season can be hit or miss, but there are chances for a variety of unique nocturnal avian species. Target species will include Elf Owl, Western Screech-Owl, Lesser Nighthawk, Whiskered Screech-Owl, Common Poorwill, and Mexican Whip-Poor-Will. Hopefully we’ll be able to detect several of these and even be able to see one or two. This is a great time of year to see all sorts of wildlife activity in the evening.

Discover the nightlife with ZEISS thermal imaging cameras. Developed for nature enthusiasts, ZEISS DTI thermal imaging cameras deliver detailed images for extremely reliable species identification even in low light or total darkness. Participants will be able to try out the thermal imaging cameras to discover how they can be used to maximize their wildlife viewing experience.

Limited to 8 participants.
