About the Empire Ranch Banding Station

The mission of the Empire Ranch Banding Station is to make significant contributions to bird conservation through collaborative research and education of the general public. The station has been operating for the last 20 years and collects data specific to individual birds like age, sex, weight, and amount of fat. The station runs from mid-May to mid-August, once every 10(ish) days. Days begin before dawn and nets are operated for about 5 hours.
