Volunteer Opportunity:




Join us in celebrating Spring and native plants at Tucson Audubon’s Spring Native Plant Sale and Festival!

Position Description:

Information Table: Volunteers will be in charge of providing attendees with valuable information about Tucson Audubon’s various programs (Habitat at Home Program, Bird Safe Buildings, Membership, and SEAZ Birding Festival), while distributing promotional materials such as flyers, brochures, and recipe cards. Volunteers will help set up and manage the information table ensuring it is neat, accessible, and welcoming.

Plant Helpers: Volunteers will be near the plant table and will help move purchased plants.

Bee Box Building: Volunteer will be guiding/assisting festival attendees at drilling holes into pre-cut wood blocks to serve as habitat for native bees.

Face Painting: Painting kids’ faces (butterflies, snakes, flowers, etc). Doesn’t have to be professional at all, kids just love having their faces painted with fun colors. I’ll have a few examples printed out to work from if that helps.

Nature’s Clean Up Crew: Help set up children’s tabling display, engage with the public, and run interactive children’s activities.


Information Table: Excellent verbal communication skills and a friendly demeanor; Ability to work independently and as part of a team; Comfortable engaging with people from diverse backgrounds; Dependable and punctual; Willingness to learn about the organization and accurately convey information to the public; Ability to stand for extended periods and manage the setup/breakdown of the information table.

Plant Helpers: Excellent verbal communication skills and a friendly demeanor; Ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy plants; general knowledge of native plants (not required).

Bee Box Building: Volunteer should be comfortable using power tools and able to stand for 4 hours. No prior experience building bee boxes necessary.

Face Painting: Comfortable around kids and some experience using paint and a brush.

Nature’s Clean Up Crew: Energetic, friendly, and patient explaining one concept several times to children & families.
