Late Afternoon Birding at Fort Lowell Park with Karen Howe
Late Afternoon Birding at Fort Lowell Park
Saturday, Dec. 15th. 3:30pm – 5:30pm
Trip Easy: 1-1.5 mile loop on mostly level ground, paved & grassy surfaces with uneven areas.
If you’ve never been birding or are just beginning, this trip will help you get started. We’ll move slowly and practice identifying birds by shape, sound, color, and behavior. You’ll get to know some common birds in Tucson and be introduced to helpful resources for new birders. We’ll have fun exploring the fields, pond, and pecan grove in the park and will walk about 1 mile on level ground and paved paths.
This park contains mixed habitats, including an urban park (grass, ballfields, manmade pond), an old pecan orchard, and edges of native trees and shrubs. Expect a mix of urban-adapted birds such as house finches, lesser goldfinches, various species of doves, hummingbirds, flickers, and woodpeckers, plus a variety of waterfowl.
Limited to 12 participants. Binoculars will be provided for those who request them.
Meet in the parking lot off of N. Craycroft Road (2900 N Craycroft Rd, Tucson, AZ 85712)
