Himmel Park with Catherine Rosenberg
Himmel Park, Tuesday, Dec. 3rd, 8:00am
Himmel park is located on the east side of Tucson Boulevard, half a block south of Speedway Boulevard, We will meet in front of the wildlife mural. You can’t miss it!
There is 124 unshaded parking spots – so plenty of parking at 8:00 am. Entry to the park is free. Himmel is open 6:00 am to 10:30 pm and there are bathrooms on site.
The trip difficulty is easy. We walk mostly on grass. Himmel is about 25 acres, with lots of amenities.
We will bird from 8:00 am to 9:30 or 10:00 am, depending on how the birds cooperate. At 10:00 am please join me for hot herbal tea, bagels and cream cheese, regular and vegan. I won’t have any gluten-free bagels. Feel free to bring something to add to our morning picnic if you like.
We will look for: the Great Horned Owls , Vermillion flycatchers, Gila and Ladder-backed Woodpeckers along with a variety of sparrows such as Lincoln, Savannah, Lark and Clay-colored, Brewers and White-crowned (so review your sparrows), Broad-billed and Anna’s hummingbirds and if we are lucky a Western bluebird, Yellow-rumped warblers or maybe a Townsend’s warbler. Fingers crossed.
