KERP & Sam Lena Park

Registration for this trip is free. Register here beginning Oct 8, 7:00 AM

Trip rating: easy. Walking distance: 1-1.5 miles. Elevation gain: minimal. Ground conditions: paved path. Restrooms available.

The main attraction for birders at KERP (Kino Environmental Restoration Project) is the large open pond that can attract water birds during any season. Adjacent to the pond low desert scrub, managed wetlands, and restored riparian woodland host a variety of bird species. We’ll check the water for migrant, wintering, and resident water birds, and then have a look around the surrounding habitat to see what else is there. Check the eBird hotspot list to know what’s around! Wrap up by 9:30 AM. Meeting instructions will be sent to registrants before trip. Limited to 12 participants.
