Chuck Ford Lakeside Park with Donito Burgess

Trip difficulty: Easy. Walking Distance: 1.5-1.75 miles. Trip Duration: 2.0-2.5 hours. Ground Condition: Concrete, grass, crushed granite, and paved surfaces. Ample parking, restroom facilities and benches available at periodic intervals throughout the park.

When you combine a large lake, tall trees, ball fields and native flora you are in for a great morning of birding. Come join fellow birders as we explore this eastside hotspot known for a variety of birds year-round plus the chance of an infrequent visit from migrating shorebirds, gulls and terns. This park sports a list of nearly 230 species, so you just might find your next favorite bird.

The pace will be relaxed with seating available for breaks or during mini bird sit moments. Whether this is your first time or you’ve been birding for years, there is always something new to experience. Open to all levels.

Plan to wear comfortable walking shoes. Bring your binoculars, hat, water and snacks as needed. Meet in the upper parking lot on the east side of the lake, accessed from S Sarnoff Drive. Limit 12 participants.

Leader: Donito Burgess
