Santa Catalina Mountains: Mt. Bigelow Ramble with Scott Crabtree & Marie Davis

Registration fee: $35/member, $50/non-member

Trip difficulty: Moderate – We’ll walk along a graded rocky road 3 mi / 5 km roundtrip. No great elevation changes, but it is above 8000 ft / 2500 m. Restrooms available.

Starting near the U of A Observatory, opposite the entrance to Whitetail Campground, we’ll spend the morning along E Mt Bigelow Road’s ridgeline, through conifer forests and open vistas, hiking to Mt Bigelow proper. We’ll search for spring and summer arrivals and nesting birds – especially warblers and flycatchers – but surprises are always possible!

No charge for entry, but there are no facilities other than the public restrooms at the nearby Bigelow Trail Head near the Palisades Visitor Center. Limited to 8 participants.

Leader will email participants final meeting instructions, and participants should be flexible as local conditions can change. As always, bring proper footwear, optics, sun protection, water, and snacks.

Leader: Scott Crabtree (505-699-9959) & Marie Davis

Register here starting Saturday, April 8, 7:00 AM.
