Peppersauce Canyon with Luke Safford and Scott Crabtree

Friday, September 20: – Peppersauce Canyon with Luke Safford and Scott Crabtree, 6:30am – 11am

$35/member, $50/non-member

Trip Difficulty: Moderate to Hard. The road/trail leading uphill from the Peppersauce Campground is wide, but a bit rocky in places and is at an incline. We will walk up about 1.5 miles making for around 3 miles round-trip.

A fairly under-birded canyon on the north side of the Catalinas, Peppersauce offers great habitat for a number of mid-elevation birds including Acorn Woodpecker, Mexican Jay, Bridled
Titmouse, and Scott’s Oriole. Fall migration should be in full swing, so there is the potential for warblers like Nashville, flycatchers like Olive-sided, and Green-tailed Towhee. Montezuma Quail have been heard up here too! We’ll start birding at 6:30am from the parking area, carpooling will be available. Limited to 10 participants.
