Early Fall Migration Atop Mt. Lemmon with Scott Crabtree
Early Fall Migration Atop Mt. Lemmon with Scott Crabtree
Registration fee: $35/member, $50/non-member
Trip difficulty: Easy walks along paved roads and some well-maintained trails, although the elevation is approximately 8000 feet.
Fall migration, being more protracted, is an excellent time to spend up in the coniferous forests and stream beds of the upper Santa Catalina Mountains. We’ll focus on finding warblers, but look forward to seeing any migrants or lingering birds, from hawks to finches. We’ll bird along E Turkey Run Road, down the main road towards Marshall Gulch, and then take in the vistas from the very top of Mt. Lemmon. Final meet-up plans to be emailed to participants prior to the scheduled date. As always, bring snacks, drinks, optics of choice – but most of all, put on your bird-enjoyment hat!
Meeting location: Parking Lot immediately south of Sawmill Restaurant and Post Office
Leader: Scott Crabtree (the.crabtrees51@gmail.com)
