Paton Center for Hummingbirds with Luke Safford
Registration fee: $35/member, $50/non-member*
Trip difficulty: Easy. Plenty of time spent watching feeders and wandering around the Paton Center. Short walks (less than a mile) on adjoining trail systems with time to rest in between. Trails are mostly packed dirt or gravel roads with maybe some walking in the dry, sandy bed of Sonoita Creek.
The famous Paton Center for Hummingbirds is known for its backyard birds and scenic location and is the perfect place to explore and experience the special birds of southeast Arizona. Spring migration will be well under-way and we’ll look for 4-6 species of hummingbirds (including Violet-crowned!), Gray Hawk, flycatchers, Lucy’s Warblers, Black-headed Grosbeaks, and more. We’ll bird for about 2-3 hours depending on how birdy it is and follow-up with coffee/food at Gathering Grounds if you’re interested. Limited to 10 participants.
Leader: Luke Safford, (lsafford@tucsonaudubon.org)
