Willcox Ponds: Cranes, Ducks and Hawks with Donito Burgess
Willcox Ponds: Cranes, Ducks and Hawks
Come see the sandhill cranes, ducks, and hawks that winter in the Willcox Playa. Those new to birding or who are mobility challenged are especially invited, since we’ll bird next to our cars with scopes and bird charts as we drive the dirt road around the ponds. Be ready for cold, wind and wet. Bring water, snacks/lunch and carpool money.
Leave from the NE corner of the parking lot in front of Walmart parking lot at Houghton and Old Vail Road (not Houghton and Golf Links) by 8 a.m., back before 2 p.m. Seventy miles one way. Restrooms at Texas Canyon rest stop on the way (where we will bird for a half hour) and the Historic Train Depot in Willcox after birding.
Limited to 20 participants.
