El Rio Preserve – Accessible Birding with SAAWR and Kimberly Aikins

Registration for this walk is free.
Trip Duration: 1.5 hrs. Ground Condition: Large cement viewing deck with two benches overlooking a pond, next to a paved shared-use path. A covered seating area and two port-o-johns available at entrance (one is wheelchair accessible).
Join Kimberly Aikins of the Southern Arizona Accessible Wildlife Refuge (SAAWR) for an outing designed for nature lovers with accessibility challenges; wheelchairs, walkers, or other assistive devices are welcome. On this trip, we will gather at Marana Parks & Rec’s newer birding spot: El Rio Open Space Preserve. Here, we’ll look for migrating waterfowl, Vermilion Flycatchers, and a variety of other species. We will finish by 9:30 am.
Each registered participant is welcome to bring a support person. To view a complete accessibility review for this location, please visit https://gis.audubon.org/birdability/. For more information, email fieldtrips@tucsonaudubon.org. Limited to 10 participants.
This program is offered in partnership with the Southern Arizona Accessible Wildlife Refuge. Visit their website at www.saawr.org for more information.
