Paton Center for Hummingbirds with Luke Safford
Registration fee: $35/member, $50/non-member*
Trip difficulty: Easy to moderate. Plenty of time spent watching feeders and wandering around the Paton Center. Short walks (less than a mile) on adjoining trail systems with time to rest in between. Trails are mostly packed dirt or gravel roads with maybe some walking in the dry, sandy bed of Sonoita Creek.
The famous Paton Center for Hummingbirds is known for its backyard birds and scenic location and is the perfect place to explore and experience the special birds of southeast Arizona. We’ll look for 3 species of hummingbirds (Anna’s, Broad-billed, and Violet-crowned!), as well as wintering birds like Red-naped Sapsucker and Green-tailed Towhee. This time of year can be when Rufous-backed Robins start showing up, so we’ll hope for one of those, too. Limited to 10 participants.
