El Rio Preserve – Accessible Birding with SAAWR

Registration for this walk is free.
Trip Duration: 1.5 hrs. Ground Condition: Large cement viewing deck with two benches overlooking a pond, next to a paved shared-use path. A covered seating area and two port-o-johns available at entrance (one is wheelchair accessible).
Join Kimberly Aikins of the Southern Arizona Accessible Wildlife Refuge (SAAWR) and Tucson Audubon Volunteer, Marcia OBara for an outing designed for nature lovers with accessibility challenges; wheelchairs, walkers, or other assistive devices are welcome. On this trip, we will gather at Marana Parks & Rec’s newer birding spot: El Rio Open Space Preserve. Here, we’ll look for migrating waterfowl, Vermilion Flycatchers, and a variety of other species. We will finish by 9:30 am.
Each registered participant is welcome to bring a support person. To view a complete accessibility review for this location, please visit https://gis.audubon.org/birdability/. For more information, email fieldtrips@tucsonaudubon.org. Limited to 8 participants.
This program is offered in partnership with the Southern Arizona Accessible Wildlife Refuge. Visit their website at www.saawr.org for more information.
